A good Sunday evening to all. Have been home from Georgia for about an hour now ... and very happy to be.... From Rainville to home it was raining... hard at times. Don't like coming down a mountain in rain... too nerve racking.

Worked a little bit on Allison's graduation card... hope to have finished in the next day or so. Will post to My Creations blog once it's finished.

Later.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

I've been MIA again.... this week I haven't done much in sewing or card making and the card making is pressuring me... especially Allison's graduation card. I have an idea for it.... just do it. It's going to be a simple card, now bells or whistles.

Have appt with the dentist this morning which I'm not looking forward to. Rather go shopping at the Mall in Huntsville.... that'll be tomorrow...

Ellie has dr's appt at 12:30 p.m. than eat at Red Lobster and than Michaels and hopefully Hancock's Fabrics... to spend money I don't have!!

Another day of warm/hot temps, sun and hopefully not a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Later.

Once again I've been MIA with my daily postings. It has been a l-o-n-g week. But productive as well. I finished sewing the siggy squares, signing them and heat setting and all put in a zip lock baggie ready to be mailed this next Wednesday.

I have three bloomers, and three aprons cut out and sitting there ready for me to sew. Have one more dress to cut out and than these three dolls will be finished.

I have a start on another quilt for the Art in the Park Craft sales.

Going to Tennessee this afternoon, but I don't have the extra cash so will bring along a book to read. Finished the library book last night so will return it Monday.

Back to my other blog to check on the goings of bloggers I keep up with. Later.

It's hump day, Wednesday and looks to be a beautiful day out. I'm going to make this short and sweet, as at 6:20 a.m., I am tired and going back to bed. My sister gets up at the 'crack of dawn' because she's on breakfast duty for the rest of the year at school and I try to get up with her for chit chat, coffee, etc.

Finish up the blocks for the quilt swap by this weekend so I can get into the mail along with three letters regarding a final payment on an outstanding bill -- yaaaay!

Cars -- what do I care what they look like. Some people act like pre-teenagers when it comes to seeing a car. I say.... whoopie. As long as it has four good tires, engine works, and there's gas in the tank, than the car is good.... But someone 'pouted' yesterday, and claimed to have a headache, and three hours she was all better.... because the son's girlfriend was making veg soup and cornbread. She craves attention like a child!!

Got fabric to make bloomers and aprons for the three Raggedys and than I start over. Goal is to make and sell 12 Raggedy Ann dolls on Art Sunday. Even if it's 8 I will be happy.

Later.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Good evening all. Sorry I didn't post yesterday but ..... what can I say.... nothing comes to mind..... lol

Today.... another day of working on the quilt swap ... I'm at 125 blocks and should make 48 more blocks but I believe I will be about 15 short -- need to buy some more white cotton fabric which is no problem. Will need it for the aprons and bloomers for the three dolls I need to sew 'em for.

Tomorrow I will be working the graduation card for Allison. What I want to make for her may not work out, but I will try it. I have two b-day cards to make and some simple Father Day cards to make to send out. And should make the b-day cards for the 2 girls turning 19 in July b/4 I leave for Kansas!!

It was a fairly nice day, did rain a little. Ellie has jury duty starting tomorrow. May-be it'll only be one day of sitting waiting to see if she's selected. Glenda thought I was going along - why? I'm going out to Wal-mart to price check some items and see if they carry mini-gel pens in office supply dept. Or the craft area.... could order them from Staples but hopefully will be to Michaels in a couple weeks.

Ellie has appt with her heart dr the 28th - hope all tests come out fine.

Well, back to work on the quilt and may-be re-thread the machine and work on a dress. TTYL

He PASSED

Good morning everybody. This is a GREAT day or a GREAT week. Kathy's got a job - back at Chase, Sonya has been interviewed at the Dr's office for receptionist position and be (hopefully) called back in for a 2nd interview next week. And the best news of all:

..Andy passed the board (147/150 points)!!!! Only bad thing is we are waiting for points to drop. YAAYYYYYYYYYYY.

So proud of my son, and his Dad would be too if he was here!

Another bright but hot day. Not sure what my plans will be for today. Just putter along and see what comes along. Finally got the Cricut out to work/play with. Everybody else is doing drawing with the Cricut, why should I be so scared of it! Maybe because I'm not sure of the design I'm working with. Finches can't land on the hummingbird feeder (snicker, snicker) but I'm still going to see what Wal-mart has. May-be I should just get out and walk around Wal-mart - just for something to do.

My sister, Kathy will be going back to work at Chase, starting the 24th of May. Treated like she had never left - full pay and pension and vacation time returned. Plus she has Allison's graduation covered, and Christine's trip to Seattle covered too. It will be a highly stressful job, but she can do it.

Tricia talked to her school about her medical issues, and they told her that she is one of the top five in her class, that she can work one year and than be a teacher.

Two down and two more to worry about! Andy goes b/4 the board Friday for his E-5 rank and Sonya is waiting on the school decision as to having a job next year or not. Also has the opportunity of going back to the hospital/dr offices to work as a receptionist or nursing scheduler.

Getting a shower and ready for whatever this day brings me. Later.

Good morning on a dreary Wednesday, May 12th. Finishing up reading my e-mails, looking through the blogs I'm following and even done some Facebook -- until it was going sooooooooooo slow uploading Farmville - totally unnecessary! Hee,hee. I'm addicted to Facebook and the games I play.

Should get my butt around as I would like to go to Wal-mart - just to walk around and see if they carry mini-gel pens in the office supplies section.

Irked by remark the EX daughter-in-law made on Facebook and like a bad girl, I left a comment. Wade's taking his girls and going camping, and she had to mention that her precious daughter just got back from Turkey Run - wonder who supplied the money for gas and camping fees!! Of course, out of the settlement from 'mommie's' divorce -- since Bri refuses to get a job.

Enough, enough - this wasn't to be a bitching blog. Just a general diary of what I am doing - as a old retired lady - which is absolutely nothing at times.

Be good old lady. Later

Good morning from Alabama on a dreary day. Looks like rain, rain, and more rain. No worries, the weather will improve... to hot, hot, and hot.

Don't know what I will be doing to day... just putter around here. First get the shower and head wash... than go from there.

Not much news from here. Later

Monday, May 10, 2010

I missed posting yesterday as I was busy working on quilts and Raggedys. Finished the hair on the 2nd doll - one more doll to sew hair into, and than make three dresses, aprons and bloomers. And start the whole process over again. I hope these dolls sell or they will be sitting here until next year! Of course, if my great-granddaughter's a girl, she will get one :-)

Yesterday was a good day. Nice and relaxing. Cooked supper out on the charcoal grill - didn't burn the burgers! lol

I spoke with my son for just a couple minutes -- He was webcam-ing his family. But he wished me a Happy Mother's Day - that's all I waited for and than went and laid down for a nap!

I will be checking out hummingbird feeders as the feeder we have is being over-runned by house finches! Ugh. Didn't put that feeder up for them! And the hummers don't come by very much now.

No company over Memorial Day weekend so we will have a more relaxing time ... and save some money that way!!

Check my other blog and will talk at you later.

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Saturday, May 8, 2010 -- a beautiful day. Not soooooo hot -- just comfortably warm. Didn't even reach the 80's - I don't think. Went to Tennessee to gamble .... didn't do at all well. May-be next weekend I'll stay home and work on my quilt(s) and Raggedys.

My company's not coming Memorial Day weekend .... supposedly b/c of seniority issues when requesting vacation time. Now she's suggesting getting together next spring break 2011 for a trip to Boston to see historical areas and tour MIT with them. Doubt that we would go .... any trips with Sonya never materialize.

We're talking about a trip to Louisiana after Memorial Day weekend to tour Civil War era homes, museums and what not. Just a trip down the Mississippi River on a riverboat would be exciting for me.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day.... Happy Mother's Day.... to ME.... Later.

Friday, May 7, 2010

In 14 days my son will turn 33 .... omig .... that makes me old. But than I am OLD! Looked at a sewing machine that does quilt stitches.... oh, do I wish I had $250.00. Even $300.00 to buy a embroidery machine - I can make sweatshirts, etc for the grandkids plus sell at Art in the Park in September.

In about six to seven weeks I head for Kansas to visit the grandbabies. Flying from Huntsville to Kansas City with a stop over in Dallas/Fort Worth. Oh ugh.... I hate unknowns.

Almost have another doll finished... working on the hem right now and than will sew up the bloomers. Need to hand stitch the baby quilt so I can get packaged up for mailing.

Another hot, hot, hot day in paradise! Could be up in Chicago where they calling for frost and where Allison is at more .... the s word ... snow....

That's it for another day.....

Later

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Good morning all. Another day of working on quilts and Raggedy dolls. And enjoying the birds as they come to the feeders. Managed to get to Wal-mart yesterday and found a card for my son's b-day .... a card that plays the Monday Night Football theme song by Hank Williams Jr.... Andy is a fan of football so thought that was just the thing for him.

Needless to say, my sister irked me last evening ... I was trying to prepare supper and was draining the spaghetti and losing some of the noodles down the sink drain :.) I was being super ms independent and didn't asked for help, and she said I was getting all out of shape about it. Supper was good though.

What ticked me off too is her constant cleaning of the work area ... especially when I'm trying to cook! Leave the clean-up 'til last is my motto!

I'm going to enjoy the day. Talk at you later.

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Tuesday evening ... it has been a fairly nice day. Done some work on the quilt for Art in the Park; and have the dolls all put together, and working on the hair. Next will be clothes; and than start over!

Haven't gotten paid for the last quilt and pillow yet. Getting anxious about it, but the gentleman had bypass surgery so need to be patient as he's getting his strength back.

Gotta go to Wal-mart tomorrow to look for a b-day card for Andy - he will be 33 the 24th of May. Get some card that plays music.

I guess I shall attempt to sleep .... hopefully thru the night w/out waking up. Good night all.
Good morning one and all! Hee,hee. Another day of sun and high temps. Another day of more sewing. I'm beginning to feel the pressure a little of all this sewing.

Heated discussion at coffee yesterday afternoon. Glenda and her 2012 beliefs. Told her my car was to be paid off 12/21/2012 and she proceeded to tell me that I was having last and final payment, blah, blah. And I looked at her and told I plan to drive my car in 2013!!

And on top of this, now she has French blood in her, and that is why she sunburns -- what happened to the American Indian blood... bunch of bull.

She's entitled to her beliefs, but good grief ... don't make 'em like they're everybody's beliefs.

I'm going back to bed. Night nite.

Hello from Alabama

I was MIA from this blog. Been thinking of creating a blog where I put my items up for sale, but this one won't work as it's too personal.

I moved from Kansas to Alabama in June, about 3 months after the first blog. Had a huge 'meltdown' with my daughter-in-law, and decided to make a permanent move (?) to Alabama. Now, I don't know if this was the best decision. There is days I wish I was back in Kansas but I don't miss the hectic and chaotic life there. But miss the grandchildren and the talking sessions with Tricia. But I will be going back latter part of June to visit and have fun with the family.

Once again, my son is in Iraq, this time for a year, but he's not even sure about that since we're suppose to pullout of Iraq (hee, hee) in August, 2011 and he's scheduled to come back about March, 2011 about six months from pullout. He doesn't see the sense in the Army deploying men to pull out troops six months later - keep what they have there and use them to pull all out.

And after coming home from Iraq - he will have approx 3 yrs left of the service. He will be taking online classes with Ashford University in Criminal Justice, starting the 8th of May, hoping to complete his course for Associate Degree and get his Bach Degree by the time he exits the service. I'm looking forward to him not being deployed to these unnecessary wars.

I'm living with my sister, Ellen in Scottsboro, Alabama and retired. I spend my days working on quilts and Raggedy Dolls, and creating cards for b-days, graduation or anything else that comes up. In other words, a pretty boring day! I had a quilt order that I finished up and delivered two weeks ago, and since Scottsboro as a Art in the Park the first weekend in Sept (Labor Day) where you have a table/booth selling your crafts or painting. I sold 2 dolls last year, and will attempt to sell some dolls this year along with a couple quilts. There will be some late nights of working as I will be spending the month of July in Kansas with family and friends.

Alabama's ok -- but this area has no big malls and the closest is 43 miles away in a extremely busy part of the city. It has the UAH located there as well as the Space and Rocket Center, and the Redstone Arsenal so there is traffic galore. So I resort to online ordering (when I have the extra cash!).

Now, if you're super religious, the times are showing the return of Christ. All the tornadoes, oil spills, earthquakes and what not, and the Mayan Indians prediction of the end of the world as we know it on Dec 21, 2012 - well you can be sooooo scared. And Dec 21, 2012 is the day my car is paid off!! So on that super scary note I will close. Have a blessed day.
